What is outplacement?
Outplacement is a form of career reorientation. The aim of outplacement is to support employees who, for example, are affected by reorganization, sick leave, or a burn-out, in their search for a new job. Outplacement includes, for example, job application training, but the employer can also develop career alternatives. Incidentally, Dutch employers are not required to offer outplacement. Offering outplacement is generally an element of good employer practice. Therefore, in most sectors outplacement is part of the social plan.
How does outplacement work?
Outplacement is therefore a valuable way for employers to support employees. Some employees may not be aware of their own strengths and competencies, and also do not have up-to-date knowledge regarding applying for jobs and searching for work. During the outplacement process, employees who have to leave the company are prepared for the upcoming reorientation and are intensively guided in their job search. It may include the following services:
● Seminars and workshops
● Personality diagnostics
● Job interview training
● Reference
● Coaching during the trial period and aftercare
During the outplacement process the employee is supported only for a limited period. The employee must, for example, have found a new job within three months to a year.
