From all-rounder to specialist
Thirty years with the same employer? For many a rarity, but forBianca Voorn een wonderful journey full of growth, fun and meaningful moments. “I started young, in a time when everything was still separate BV’s, and had an incredibly versatile role. From financial administration and contract management to finding the right people in the right place – I experienced it all.”
Over the years Circle8 changed and Bianca grew along with the organization. When the departments were merged, she faced a choice: Contract Services or Financial Services? "My love of numbers was the deciding factor, and since then I haven't left." To this day she goes to work with a smile and comes home with that same smile.
Volunteering as a passion
Outside her work, Bianca has another great passion: volunteer work. “In my free time I help out at an ice rink in our village. From setting up and working behind the bar to supervising children's activities – it gives me energy to do something without expecting anything in return, except happy faces.”
That love for helping others made her participation in theJINC-program extra special. “I had never heard of JINC before, but when I read about it, I was immediately enthusiastic. Helping young people with their first steps in the labor market fits perfectly with what I find important.”
A valuable morning full of impact at JINC
During the program Bianca gave job interview training to two groups of 13 students. “It was intense, but incredibly fun. The children were curious and really wanted to learn. Some were a bit shy at first, but in the end almost all of them took part. That gave me so much satisfaction.”
Some moments stay with her more than others. Like the boy who wanted to become a cook, but didn't dare to apply. “His CV and cover letter stood out, but he was very insecure. After some encouragement he tried it anyway and his self-confidence visibly grew. That moment was worth its weight in gold.”
Another girl with a dream of becoming a singer got an extra nudge. "She wanted to audition for the Herman Brood Academy, but doubted whether she was good enough. I asked her, 'What do you have to lose? If it doesn't work out, you'll be richer for the experience.' In the end she promised that she would try."
A gift from Circle8
That Circle8 gives employees the opportunity to be socially involved is, Bianca says, a big plus. “It really feels like a gift from my employer that I was allowed to take part in this during working hours. It’s not only incredibly fun, but also valuable for the young people and for yourself.”
With good preparation – such as reading CVs and cover letters – she was able to make her contribution even more meaningful. “The first time takes some extra preparation, but it is so worth it. When I drove home, I had a big smile on my face. It was fantastic.”
Why JINC is so important
“This program shows that Circle8 does more than just work; we contribute to society. Young people gain self-confidence and discover their talents. It is wonderful to contribute to that.”
With her enthusiasm, Bianca also encourages other colleagues to sign up. "It only takes you a few hours of preparation, and the satisfaction you get back from it is enormous. I can really recommend it to everyone!"
