Circle8 and JINC: Building the future of talent together! Monique Manger
At Circle8 we believe inTotal Talent Flow – getting talent moving and developing it, not only within our company, but also beyond. That is exactly why I take part in the JINC program. For me it's about making a social contribution, but also about continuing to grow myself by sharing my knowledge. My background in recruitment enabled me to pass on something valuable to young people taking their first steps in the labor market. When I heard about JINC, I was immediately enthusiastic and felt: I want to take part in this.
JINC offers training and guidance to young people who are about to gain their first work experience. In my case this meant that I was asked to give a job-application training to students. It was lovely to see a class full of Mavo 4 students who didn't have much experience yet but were enthusiastic to learn. Many of them are at the beginning of their careers, often heading toward the MBO. It felt wonderful to give them skills and insights they can use later during their internships and first job applications.
My first experience with JINC
To be honest: I found it nerve-wracking. Standing in front of the class was new to me, and the target group – young people without much work experience – made it challenging and interesting. Most students had no work experience yet, or only a job like in a supermarket. That's why I felt especially responsible for teaching them something about the world of job applications. Fortunately I was well guided by the JINC-team and the teachers; they made sure we knew what the 75-minute training would look like. We even got the chance to attend a preparatory session together with colleagues. This gave me the confidence!
It was not only a valuable experience for the students, but also for myself. The feeling that I could give them something that improves their chances on the labor market was incredibly valuable. Moreover, I felt that I myself also grew by stepping out of my comfort zone and standing in front of such a group.
Recommended for my colleagues
Would I recommend it to others? Absolutely! I tell every colleague who wants to hear it, because I truly believe it’s an experience from which you gain something both as a professional and as a person. The time investment is relatively small: half an hour of online preparation with JINC, an hour to brainstorm with colleagues and a morning for the training. But the impact you can make for those young people is big. It’s not only good for them; it’s also fantastic content for us as a company and a nice way to make Circle8 known to them. Who knows, they may come back to Circle8 later with enthusiasm!
Proud of Circle8's involvement
I am super proud that Circle8 is committed to JINC. It feels great to see that our company is willing to help the next generation while simultaneously growing itself. After all, we're in the recruitment business ourselves and have the knowledge and experience to help others. What I also appreciate is that colleagues encourage each other and share their experiences. That creates an atmosphere of involvement and curiosity that is characteristic of Circle8.
At Circle8 we are committed to the development of talent – whether that is within our company, or in society as a whole. JINC shows that with relatively little time you can make a big difference, both for yourself and for the future labour market. I am proud of this step and hope that together with JINC we can help even more young people find their place in the world of work!
