5 Tips for the development of your employee

1. Develop talent

Every employee has talents, but to quote Einstein: “If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life thinking it is stupid.” So encourage your employees to develop and place them where their capacity is greatest and their competencies are put to use.

2. Mapping out a career

Try not to be a conduit of talent, but give employees the opportunity to map out a career within the company. Perhaps there are employees who don't necessarily rely on their talent, but who can think strategically and thus aspire to a key position? As an employer, think along with this and encourage employees to develop themselves through personal goals.

3. Communicate consciously

Align everything in a personal development plan. How do you ensure that an employee performs at their best so that the employee fully utilizes the talent available? When you apply talent management, you communicate consciously and the dialogue is always open.

4. Competencies and business objectives go together

Try to develop your employees' competence within a team atmosphere that merges with the company's goals and vision. You can, for example, ask yourself whether you give your employees enough access to information. It's not for nothing that the term 'team spirit' exists!

5. Mutually attractive

Companies that operate successfully are often also companies you truly want to work for. This goes far beyond offering a good salary and managing workload. Above all, it's about encouraging personal development, the little extra you can offer (potential) employees. The law of attraction, you might say.

Developing staff is 'key'. Start with the talents, let staff map out their career path, communicate consciously, develop competencies and be attractive.
