At Circle8 we strongly believe in the power of innovation and collaboration. Recently we were invited to collaborate on an (internship) research project by Molenaar & Plasman Solutions (MnP) on how VR technology can contribute to improving security awareness trainings. The goal of Rick de Coster's research was to experience how Virtual Reality (VR) can be an innovative addition to traditional e-learning modules and how participants appreciate this new way of learning.
The test: learning in a virtual world
During a unique test with eight employees at Circle8, VR headsets were experimented with as a supplement to existing training techniques. The results were impressive: the interaction and realistic scenarios provided a completely different learning experience. According to Rick, the reactions were extremely positive: “The dynamic during the training was fantastic. The groups were engaged and were really looking forward to the training, which made it a lot easier for me to give it.”
But why VR?
VR offers some clear advantages, such as a safe learning environment and higher engagement. “Learning or working with VR is exciting for many people because it is new, but in practice it turns out to be incredibly enjoyable and effective,” Rick explains. “It gives participants the opportunity to practice in a controlled environment and receive immediate feedback.”
