Welcome, Arjan! You have now been part of Circle8 for 88 days. How have you experienced your first period?
My first months at Circle8 were filled with new experiences and impressions. I found myself in a completely new environment, in which I not only learned many new things, but also got to meet my colleagues and the culture within the company. In addition, I became better acquainted with the organization by visiting various departments and asking questions about their processes and activities. It was an exciting time, because everything was new, but above all a very valuable period in which I learned a great deal.
Can you tell us a bit more about what a typical workday looks like?
My workday usually begins with going through my mailbox, which often forms the basis for my tasks that day. I answer questions, check the hours and invoices of self-employed entrepreneurs and make sure everything is neatly sorted and in order. It often happens that invoices are incomplete, and in that case I contact the self-employed by e-mail or phone to collect the missing information.
After processing the mailbox, I focus on entering the invoices. This process is precise work, during which I regularly encounter small challenges, such as unclear details or missing information. Together with my colleague Rutger I work closely on a number of clients, and starting in February my responsibilities will be expanded to include more clients for whom I will be responsible. As a result, I am handing over my work on the service packages to a colleague, but I will of course remain available to support the team when needed. What I like about my work is that no day is the same, which keeps it always interesting and challenging.
How did you actually end up at Circle8?Last summer I graduated as a legal administrative assistant. I had previously worked part-time in the supermarket and completed internships at ASR and UWV, but I was ready for the next step: a permanent job in which I could further develop myself. During my search I was approached via LinkedIn by Monique Manger, our corporate recruiter.
The message came at a perfect moment. My girlfriend had just given birth to our first child, and I wanted to make time to cherish that special period in my life. Circle8 gave me that space, and I appreciated it immensely. The interviews I had with Monique, Jose and Michel were very pleasant and immediately felt right. I can now say that I feel completely at home and am very happy to be part of the Circle8 team.
How do you experience the collaboration with your colleagues?Working with my colleagues is something I find very positive. Everyone is incredibly helpful and open, and it feels very easy to ask questions or to ask for help. Within our team there is a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, and we laugh together a lot – even so much that other departments sometimes notice it!
What I also really appreciate about Circle8 is the flexibility and personal approach. You feel that you are seen and heard here as a person, and that there is always room to talk things over, whether it's work-related or about something personal. It gives a sense of trust and involvement, which makes me enjoy working here a great deal.
Finally, one question we like to ask: if you could practice a different profession for one day, what would you do?
I would like to spend a day in Elon Musk's shoes. How does he think? How does he balance everything — his work, family, and of course all those companies? And yes, secretly I'd also like to take a peek in his wallet, haha! It would be fascinating to see how he functions as a person and an entrepreneur.
Thank you, Arjan, for your open and enthusiastic answers! It's wonderful to see how you've found your footing at Circle8. Here's to many more great steps in the future!
